Well, the study team examined 27 pieces of gym equipment in three fitness centers to see the level of bacteria. They mainly focused on treadmill, fitness bike, and free weight for the study and came with the shocking news. Another study by US National Library of Medicine has revealed more worrying things for gym visitors.
The study, which examined select fitness centers in a metropolitan area, has clearly uncovered the lack of gym cleanliness and hygiene. It reveals that there was an abundant level of fatal bacteria like Firmicutes phyla, and Actinobacteria on various skin-contact surfaces of fitness centers. In addition, it also discovered the presence of infectious pathogenic bacteria like Salmonella, Klebsiella, and Staphylococcus.
